New Wednesday morning – Yoga for Beginners Class. Learn the basics of Yoga – rebalance and generally feel better – 9.30am- 1hr- £4
This class is aimed at those who have never tried yoga before, or students with some experience who fancy a gentle morning class. I will be sharing the basics of yoga. Including gentle flowing sequences to help build flexibility, strength and stamina – Along with some gentle breathing techniques to aid the fluidity of the practice – teaching you to become more in tune with your body, what it requires in order for optimal health and balance, both physically and mentally. Each class will end with a short meditation/relaxation.
I could write endlessly about the benefits of yoga, but here are just a handful :
Improves alignment, flexibility, strength and stamina (helping relieve physical ailments, such as back, neck and shoulder pain).
Eases stress related conditions ; Anxiety, insomnia and depression.
And generally changes lives – speaking from experience 😉
Mindful meditation uses the breath as a reference point for resting in the present moment. When you have gotten caught up in a thought, simply recognise that and gently return your attention to the smooth, rhythmic flow of the breath. This will happen over and over again. Meditation isn’t a practice of getting rid of all your thoughts, but of recognising them and noticing their impermanent nature, letting them come and go, not getting caught up in the story (our monkey mind), and learning to ride the breath. It is a practice of cultivating awareness of your habitual thought patterns.
‘The mind is sometimes compared to a cup of murky water. When it is shaken, the water becomes cloudy, but when it is still, the muck settles to the bottom of the cup and the water is clear. The practice of meditation is like letting the cup water (your mind) be still.’
Some of the benefits of meditation : Increased Immunity – Emotional Balance – Lower Blood Pressure – Encourage a sense of calm : So fab for those who suffer with stress, anxiety, panic attacks and insomnia – Decreases Physical Tension – Increases Serotonin : improving ones mood and behaviour – Increases energy levels ……
