Karli Yoga ~ Body-Centred Therapy Penzance

‘Teaching in her dynamic, ever evolving style Karli’s main yoga influencer’s over the years have been Iyengar yoga and Ashtanga yoga with particular attention on alignment, strength and flexibility – Not just of the physical body but the whole-self; mind, body and spirit.  She strongly advocates the healing powers of embodiment and breath awareness and passionately shares this throughout her teachings.
Her sessions are very much laced with her broad knowledge, and continual fascination, of practicing yoga as a healing therapeutic model so expect her to take you on a Body-Listening journey of self discovery.’

Having worked full time for over 9 years with yoga and getting to witness first hand its profound therapeutic benefits both physically and mentally, Karli quickly became inspired to continue her studies exploring both yoga and other therapeutic models and approaches which have complimented and stretched her skillset.

Especially useful when working with individual bodyminds in a therapeutic setting as she often does.

Having excessive yoga trainings under her belt (Qualifications listed in ‘About Karli’ section) and remaining committed to continual professional development within her yoga teachings and practices. Karly has also branched out to further her studies beyond the yoga model. She has trained in Body-Listening Therapy (Brighton School for Embodiment Therapy), Crisis and Trauma Counselling Diploma (BYS) , Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher training and is currently training in Pesso Boyden Psychotherapy (A Body-Centred Psychotherapy) with Pesso Boyden UK…

Relational Embodiment Yoga Therapy (REYT) is an explanation of the process in which Karli continues to work with her clients.

RELATIONAL meaning the therapeutic relationship between herself and the client/student needs the right environment   for the work to flourish.  Trust, Respect and Congruence are all major components of a good therapeutic relationship. When these are in place the process can begin to unravel safely with positive outcomes.

EMBODIMENT the journey often begins with a little talking to assess where to begin and then as soon as she can Karli begins the process of embodiment. Using different tools and techniques whilst working very much from an intuitive sense of direction.

YOGA THERAPY  yoga is therapeutic and continues to be Karli’s main therapeutic practice.

“If a client/student feels safe, trusting and comfortable with me positive outcomes can flourish, in terms of the healing process… without a comfortable therapeutic relationship the process may be less successful. However, this often blossoms and matures with time – like any relationship.”

Karli yoga testimonials

Recommend Karli Yoga? Absolutely!  I was fortunate to take part in yoga sessions at work. Karli made these enjoyable and fun. Her teaching struck a chord with everyone of us. We all learnt something that was relevant to us individually. I took away tips about small changes I can do at work whether at the desk or while on the move. I certainly benefited from the relaxation at the start and end of our sessions. At first I took these just as an opportunity to close my eyes and let go for a bit. But gradually I started paying more attention to my breath, just as Karli taught me. I found that I could come back to mindful breathing at different times of the day and in different situations. I think this helped me to gain a clearer focus. I feel better equipped to focus on tasks and give my attention to the particular task at hand instead of rushing to do several things together. I feel by quietening my mind Im able to achieve better results at work.  I strongly recommend considering trying yoga at work with Karli.

I thought I’d missed the boat for yoga but ongoing back problems, tight calf muscles and growing desperation about my aching body made me sign up for Karly’s six-week warm yoga course in Penzance at the start of 2018. Although I was convinced I’d be unable to do the stretches and would feel silly trying, I completed the course and can’t wait for the next one. Doing the downward dog remains challenging and there are times when I feel in awe of everyone else’s flexibility and stamina but now I know that yoga is not a competition. We’re all different, with different physical histories and abilities, and all that matters is turning up and doing your best. Having a knowledgeable and kind teacher helps a lot. Super-bendy but also down-to-earth, Karly makes classes fun and inspires everyone to improve. There’s also a slightly meditative element that makes the sessions truly healing for body and soul.

I’ve just completed three one-to-one sessions with Karli, which were given to me as a birthday present. Karli is an incredibly skilled and experienced practitioner but she is also a brilliant instructor – compassionate, caring and very interested in her students and what works best for their particular bodies and minds. I gained a great deal from these individual sessions, from tweaks I can apply to more basic poses to how to develop the strength and confidence to tackle more advanced postures. If you are just starting out on your yoga journey then I also recommend Karli. Two years ago, when I started yoga and was a complete novice, I had a few sessions with her. She clearly did something very right as, since then, I’ve become totally hooked!

Dr Clare Makepeace

Karli’s Therapeutic 121 sessions are really impressive and helpful. The combination of mindfulness, therapy, meditation and yoga is an incredibly effective way of looking at your emotions, but most importantly, feeling them in your body. This is so important in the healing process, and something that can be missed in more traditional therapy. Karli is very compassionate and intuitive, and creates a safe and welcoming space in which the client and the practitioner work together. I benefited hugely from these sessions, and feel confident that Karli has given me the tools to continue an emotional growth and deeper understanding of myself. I highly recommend!

Karly’s classes not to be missed! Apart from her natural style and friendliness her sessions are strong, varied, fun and challenging for all levels. I have grown physically mentally and spiritually with Karly’s guidance and strongly recommend her.

Karly, a truly beautiful soul, delivers fantastic yoga sessions to heal mind and body in a supportive environment. The sessions are fun and challenging and always enlightening.

Having tried many different types of yoga on and off for years I never found anyone to keep me focussed; I’ve definitely connected with Karly’s style of teaching and am now reaping the benefits from attending twice a week for the last 10 months. My physical and core strength has improved dramatically and my general health is so good I rarely have any digestive problems caused by several operations for chrons disease. I’d recommend Karli Yoga, check out her classes, you won’t regret it!

Karli is an amazing teacher. Having recently trained as a yoga teacher, I wanted to find someone I could look to for help developing my practice. Karli makes you fully aware of your body during class, she guides you through correct alignment and offers the chance for you to explore poses, creating depth and connection to a deeper practice. I would highly recommend her.

Nicky R

Yoga Teacher

After travelling for work for the last three weeks, attending yoga at different studios around the world, I came back to Karli’s class and left feeling refreshed, content and so happy to be home. She has such a way of teaching that takes you on a journey her passion and knowledge just shines through her practice. Thank you.

Karli’s yoga classes teach me a combination of strengthening exercises and stretches  for the body, with breathing and meditation techniques for the mind, which makes them a fantastic way to keep healthy and develop our inner and outer wellbeing. I joined s a complete beginner and really noticed a difference to my core strength and suppleness within a few weeks.  Each of the sessions provide a good balance of core practices plus a variety of new postures each week that keep the classes interesting, challenging and great fun.  I would recommend them to everyone.

Last year a car crashed into the back of a friend’s car. I was in the passenger side and got severe whiplash, badly hurt hips and shoulders. I went over the normal amount of physio and still had pain. I couldn’t surf through neck pain, and all training stopped. I was recommended yoga and heard about Karli Yoga. I have been going now for about 1 year and the improvement has been amazing. The neck and shoulder pain was gone in 3 months. Everything else went back to normal within 6 months.

One year on I am feeling younger, more flexible, more energetic than I was before the crash. This sounds too good to be true but this is my experience and I cannot recommend Karli Yoga enough.

As a teacher, Karly is encouraging, funny and knowledgeable and her yoga practice reflects this. Working with the breath runs through every class, focusing, deepening the stretches, and most importantly bringing peace to the mind. I have been attending Karly’s classes for nearly two years and the benefits to my body and mind are huge. I have a stronger relationship with my body, and have learnt when to gently push myself and when to back off, great life lessons in general!

These sound strategies, grounded in my breathing, enable me to meet life’s challenges with more calm and efficiency. I have huge gratitude for Karly’s encouragement, expertise and gentleness.

Karly is a warm and welcoming tutor who makes everyone feel valued. She is enthusiastic, encouraging and flexible in meeting the varied needs of her students. A lesson with Karly is always a productive and enjoyable experience for both mind and body.

Karly came to our school once a week over a ten week period, and each time we had about an hour of yoga. It was brilliant! We learned loads of new ways to relax and to look after ourselves, and we all felt amazing at the end! Ten weeks wasn’t enough, we want her back!

Emma

Year 11 student – Mount′s Bay School

I was recommended by a close friend to attend Karly’s yoga sessions …due to the stress I have been under and only wish I had gone sooner. I have done yoga before but many years back and never really got it and struggled with the basics. Not now, Karly is an incredible teacher, she is not only warm, friendly and welcoming, she really knows her stuff and explains things so well that where I have not been able to do things in the past I can now by her simple explanations and little hints and tips. Karly makes you feel so comfortable that I feel more confident and her sense of humour really add to the enjoyment of her class. I leave feeling relaxed and my aches and pains gone, I look forward each week to her class and only wish I had the time to go more than once a week. Thank you Karly.

From the first session I was a convert – I have tried other yoga classes, but found them lacking. The classes are always different and I always come away feeling stronger, more flexible, relaxed and that I have learnt something that I can use in my personal practice.

Karly herself has evolved as an instructor over the 2 years I have been attending her classes and this shows in the not just the number of clients now going to the sessions (both male and female), but also in the number of regulars who know they are onto a good thing.

I have been attending karli’s yoga classes for a year now. I started as a way of increasing my strength, flexibility and to improve my dodgy lower back! I find Karli to be a great teacher, rarely are her classes the same. I love that she focuses on the breathing as many other classes I have been to don’t. Her style of yoga can be quite intense and you really feel as if you are working every part of your body!

The classes are good fun and attended by lots of lovely people. Karli welcomes all levels and I feel as if my practice has grown and improved (although I still don’t practice everyday, sorry Karli!)”

I am a busy working mum with three young children. After having my third baby I decided to get back into yoga. Karly is an amazing and inspirational teacher and totally committed to and enthusiastic about her teaching. I enjoy both the spiritual and breathing aspects as well as the physical benefits.

Karly and her yoga has brought me an inner peace that I lacked and I feel calmer and have far greater wellbeing. I have become totally hooked and it has now become part of my life. As my children get older I will do more and more!”

Louize M

Busy mum

I was very hesitant about joining a yoga class as I hadn’t done much exercise in the past and suffer with arthritis. I am so pleased I joined Karly’s class in Spain as an introduction, she was amazing. She didn’t make me feel out of place in a class of different levels. I enjoyed it so much I am now hooked and go every week and miss it if I don’t go.

Yoga has certainly improved my flexibility and general wellbeing. I can recommend Karly’s yoga class to anyone contemplating yoga, if you go once you will want to continue. Thank you Karly for giving me my first taste of yoga, I look forward to your next visit to Spain.

Teresa

Alicante, Spain

Having completed a yoga teacher training course with Karly, I have watched as she has developed into an incredibly competent, compassionate and dedicated teacher.

Her knowledge, experience and openness to many varied styles of yoga provides the student with a full range of practises to enhance their physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Karly’s enthusiasm and energy creates an inspirational environment for practising yoga.”
